There are new, compatible system elements, the common feature of which is reliability and small dimensions, which is possible thanks to the negligible power consumption and, consequently, the lack of the need to use large battery sets.

ZigBee devices are worth using where the reliability of automated processes is crucial.

Because automation management is carried out by the control panel (gateway), the programmed rules will be implemented regardless of access to the WiFi network or in the absence of Internet connection.

Adding a ZigBee gateway to the Tuya application is very simple.

Connect the gateway to power

In the Tuya Smart Life application, select :Gateway Control > Gateway(ZigBee) (1 gate icon from the left. The drawing shows a gate with 2 diodes/Blue and red.

Enter your WiFi password

Put the ZigBee gateway into pairing mode by pressing the reset button for 6 seconds, release it, the device will reset, after a few seconds the red LED will start flashing rapidly. Proceed to confirm that the LED is already flashing. If the light flashes slowly, repeat the process again or change the pairing mode to AP Mode.

Press on your phone to confirm that the LED is already flashing.

Continue pairing according to the instructions on your phone.

Basics of the ZigBee protocol.

The ZigBee protocol operates on the 2.4 GHz frequency, which propagates well in buildings

ZigBee connectivity is MESH connectivity, which means that each ZigBee device acts as a relay for other devices. If a remote sensor does not have communication with the ZigBee Gateway, it is enough that it has radio communication with another sensor that has communication with the gateway. The devices work in a mesh chain of connections, which ensures reliability and certainty of the connection.

ZigBee devices and sensors consume very little energy, which gives a long battery life.

Devices using the ZigBee protocol connect to the control panel in 0.2 seconds when the status changes. WiFi devices take about 5 seconds to connect to the WiFi network after a status change. ZigBee devices have a huge advantage when it comes to automating smart rules.

Most configured ZigBee device automations are performed on the on-premises gateway, not in the cloud.

The ZigBee gateway and ZigBee devices allow for much wider and longer storage of parameter data and device history. Door opening history, temperature history, motion detection history saved months ago.
